When it comes to journalism, there's a variety of opportunities that allow a person to expand their interest in different areas. As a young and aspiring journalist, being able to enhance my skill set and explore the unique aspects of the field has become my favorite part.

Throughout my time being greatly involved with my school's athletic department and its' teams, I enjoy finding different ways to include myself in each sports' environment along with building relationships with the team and highlighting their season.

This year, I am taking a different role when it comes to basketball season. In addition to helping live stream what happens on the court for Warrior Nation Network, this year you'll hear my voice over the speakers as a public address announcer in Warrior Arena. After shadowing and learning the ins-and-outs from Coach Honeycutt, I am enjoying the experience of using my voice beyond being in front of a camera. With hopes to be a sideline reporter, announcing is helping me become more educated about rules and regulations of basketball, improve on my speaking skills,and stay engaged and organized.

Having the opportunity to be a part of an environment where teams are performing the sport they love and are passionate about, I truly enjoy and take pride in. Announcing has allowed me to diversify my knowledge, gain exposure, and become more versatile in the journalism field. Taking on this responsibility has pushed me to strive to be confident when it comes to being different, to go after what I want, and staying consistent even when I follow the road less traveled.
